Never Give Up! Never, Ever Give Up!

Never give up! Never give up! Never, ever give up!

I sound brave don’t I? Yes, just like Winston Churchill. But can we talk privately? There are often junctures in my life when I DO feel like giving up, like pulling the covers over my head, or slinking into a corner to hide.

What about those times when we simply cannot go on, when we are spent, when we have absolutely nothing left to give?

Jesus taught: “… the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit WITH PERSEVERANCE.” Luke 8:15

Paul said: “Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.” Galatians 6:9

But again, what do we do when we are completely depleted, down for the count, and have NOTHING left to give? Where are we supposed to get this “perseverance”? One thing is certain. I’m not going to find it in the guy I see in the mirror each morning.

Jesus said:, “Is this not the reason you are mistaken, that you do not understand the Scriptures or the power of God?'” Mark 12:24

“What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?” Matthew 8:27

“Fire and hail, snow and clouds; Stormy wind, fulfilling His word” Psalm 148:8

“Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus” Romans 15:5

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”Matthew 11:28-30

Yes, Jesus, I will come. I need Your good gifts. I need You
