When the Devil is Right!

What can we do when the Devil accuses us of wrongdoing and sin … and we know he is right!

It is said that anyone who represents himself in court has a fool for a client. But what if the court provided us with an Advocate who was Himself perfect, and perfect for our case?

What if the Advocate pleaded “no contest” in view of the lengthy list of charges brought against us, but then astonishingly stepped forward to pay the penalty we deserve? What if He took the additional step of transferring His perfection over to to us?

Such an arrangement might be considered far-fetched by some, but it is documented in history and guaranteed in Scripture to all who accept their need for such representation, and who believe. This Advocate has never lost a case, and has never had a client who was disappointed in His representation.

“We have one who speaks to the Father in our defense — Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.” 1 John 2:1

“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Cor 5:21

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.” 2 Corinthians 8:9

“if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” Romans 10:9-11
“Even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on high. My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God; on behalf of a man he pleads with God as a man pleads for his friend.” (Job 16:19-21)
Blessed is “the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: ‘Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.'” (Romans 4:6-7)
“Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus … What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.” Romans 8:1, 31-34
