The Religious Way versus God’s Way of Achieving Heaven

Why do some people insist on attempting to achieve Heaven the “religious” way (a way the Bible indicates is futile and impossible), when the Bible clearly lays out God’s prescribed way of receiving the righteousness we need for living life here on earth and for gaining access to Heaven as a gift of God’s grace through Jesus Christ?

“For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.” Romans 10:2-3

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

“‘Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, WHICH THE SON OF MAN WILL GIVE TO YOU, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal.’ Therefore they said to Him, ‘What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?’ Jesus answered and said to them, ‘This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent'” John 6:27-29
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16
“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21

“if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:9-13
