Starting Off the Year With A BANG!

Dear Friend of All the King’s Horses Ministry,

It was a blessing to speak to a group of Singles at Tuscarora Inn and Conference Center in Bethlehem PA at their New Year’s celebration. My son Tim and his Bride Emily cared for Bryson overnight, enabling me to get away for this event. I reminded this dear group of people that even when All the King’s Horses can’t put our train-wrecked lives together again, King Jesus will provide us with purpose and hope as we follow Him, and as we trust in Him alone.

“… we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life; indeed, we had the sentence of death within ourselves so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead; who delivered us from so great a peril of death, and will deliver us, He on whom we have set our hope. And He will yet deliver us” 2 Corinthians 1:8-10

When I returned home, our New Year literally began with a Bang! Bryson suffered another fall in the bathroom. An MRI confirmed two torn tendons in his left wrist. He is now wearing a brace, and may be facing surgery. Treatment on the wrist must be postponed until after the more pressing surgery is performed on his left eye this Friday, January 19th. Bryson is having increasing difficulty seeing, and the stakes are high with this surgery. Thank you in advance for your prayers.
Why would a good God allow such discouraging things to happen to my struggling son, especially after all the suffering he has been forced to endure as a brain-injured individual throughout the entire 32 years of his life? As you consider your own heartaches, dear reader of this Newsletter, you could ask the same thing  … Isn’t that so?

Praise God that we do have an answer from God’s Word. His name is Jesus. Praise God for all the torture and pain Jesus willingly endured for our sake, including the burden of our own sins placed upon His holy life, so that we can be set free forever. Praise Him too that He will sum all things up well when we see Him face to face. In view of these things, is there anything too great for Him to ask of us in this battleground world?

“For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Hebrews 12:3

“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.” Philippians 3:20-21

December and January have been fraught with ministry opportunities to people who are desperate for hope. What a privilege the Lord has granted me to drink in the all-sufficient grace of God for my own trials and weaknesses, and to dispense that same grace to all those God sends to me. How awesome to know that Jesus will provide purpose and hope to any man or woman who comes to Him, irrespective of their particular brand of brokenness or “impossibility.”

I will keep you apprised of the outcome of Bryson’s surgery very soon. The cost of this surgery will be $3500.00 out of pocket beyond Bryson’s Medicaid based insurance. Thank you in advance for your generosity in helping me to provide for my son, and for others desperately seeking hope through this Ministry.
